Greenwich CT and Greater NYC area's best choice for IT needs

It’s not the script, its the person that makes the sale

Today I visited the dentist for some much needed dental work. This is a new dentist to me, because I am new to the area. When I started my search for a dentist I needed one that was close in proximity and that had experience with cosmetics. I googled dentists in Armonk. The first dentist I found was Dr. Shirakura. I called his office and was greeted with warmth and professionalism. Joanne answered the phone starting with “Good morning Dr Shikakura’s office, this is Joanne how can I help you?”. She went through all the basic questions, and engaged in conversation when I would comment on something. She also made sure I was prepared for my visit with the vital information I would need. The other two dentist groups I found I no longer had a need to call, if I had been “shopping”, Joanne had me sold in the first few words.

In business our phone greetings are usually somewhat, if not all scripted. We have procedures to follow in those calls as well. Joanne followed the main version of a script, got all pertinent information, what she did bring to it was warmth and genuine interest. What Joanne did, no script could do.

This attitude resonated through my entire experience with Dr. Shirakura and his staff, and still does to this day. Joanne does billing, scheduling, acts as a patient liaison, and pays attention to the personal details, kids, birthdays, etc. Laura does insurance and makes sure you are scheduled and understand your bill, as well as contacting you before and after for any follow up. Dana is the hygienist who listens to people ramble on and contributes back graciously. Dr. Shirakura evaluates and consults with the patients to come to a solution that works for them. He has built an amazing practice with a core group of individuals that compliment it.

In this day, dentists have to work on getting new patients just like companies have to work to get new business. The fact remains that it wasn’t a scripted part of the conversation that made me a fan of Dr. Shirakura’s practice. It was Joanne at first, then the rest of the staff and the service.

Business new and existing is vital to an organizations success, and we all need a platform to work from. Whether or not a person follows a script to the letter isn’t really the end all, if they don’t demonstrate the ability to connect with the prospect a script does them no good.
“A product or service is only as good as the person who represents it.”

Thank you Joanne for being you, and not just someone scripted.

Image and Social media in Corporate America

Social media has begun to play a key role in how companies shape their corporate social responsibility (CSR) policies and present themselves as good corporate citizens.

Employers have added Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) policies to their handbooks. Where overtime and sexual harassment are still leading concerns for corporations, so is employee social media habits and actions. Today, CSR functions as more than just a set of guidelines to keep companies out of trouble. Because the end goal for corporations has risen above simply selling a product or service, the standard for CSR is being redefined and is continuing to evolve.

The actions of a representative of a corporation is the now subject to influence the image of it as well. And employers are taking this seriously, some may even look at prospective candidates facebook, twitter and or internet presence, and elect not to hire based on what they see. People have even lost their jobs for displaying or saying things that could be harmful to the corporation they represent.

Corporations dont want to be associated with any one that exercises poor social skills or grace online, they have enough to worry about with unhappy customers giving them bad press. Should one decide to identify who they work for on a public forum, they then have a responsibility to that organization and their brand.

It’s no longer about just product and or service, its about conduct, brand and perception. So next time you post something, think about the impact it could have on you, your career, your image.

More and more corporations are finding CSR’s a necessary policy to not only instate, but enforce.

ESSENTIAL Care Initiative (Quality is just a byproduct of it)

Alzheimer’s Awareness month is behind us, but the issues in memory care are not. Supporting this cause has been an active part of our organization for about a year now.

A close friend has pioneered the effort to change the standards of care for the memory impaired. Today, someone is diagnosed with Alzeimer’s every 69 seconds. Take a look around you, the person to your left and the person to your right…1 of the 3 will be afflicted, this is not an epidemic, its a pandemic.

State minimum requirements do not spell QUALITY, and they truly don’t even scratch the surface of what is ESSENTIAL in the needs of assisted living residents, let alone for the memory impaired. I have often said to my own children (who will inherit several assisted living facilities) “Remember that I raised you and love you with all my being, and please don’t send me some where you yourself would not want to be”. Right now, there are very FEW of these facilities that would be considered even decent by anyone’s standards.

The founder of Trusted Memory Care wrote a book: 625 Days, Memory Care from the Inside, it was written for the professionals in assisted living and memory care, but for those of us who aren’t in that field that have read it; it has been a painful and scary eye opener. One day it is my hope that this book is revised for the general public.

In talking with several assisted living and memory care facilities, even I was able to discover there is a HUGE difference in the reality and the “pitch” to prospective residents and their families that is given. What Trusted Memory Care offers is a roadmap of success for ESSENTIAL care and support for the initiative, QUALITY is just a byproduct of this roadmap.

For those of you that are partners in supporting Alzheimer’s Awareness, please take a moment to visit the website below and become fimiliar with the issues that memory care faces today.

Steve Jobs – A True Inspiration

Today we sadly bid farewell to the founder of Apple, Steve Jobs. His innovation and commitment to quality was second to none, a true visionary with uncompromising integrity.

In the wake of his departure Apple and it’s new leader Tim Cook has to this point disgraced the company with poor business decisions and management.

Apple released the I phone 4S on October 4, 2011 amid rumors of the I phone 5 release, causing nothing but disappointment and disbelief. Polls on how the new leader is doing are grim, and they should be.

There is one one Steve Jobs and he is an icon, whose leadership, and principles will be a hard act to follow, if not impossible.

Your Right to Privacy and Facebook

It’s is absolutely preposterous that the notion of privacy expectations are even up for debate. Earning attention from members of Congress and having the matter brought to the attention of the FTC, Facebook could be found guilty of violating privacy rights under the “unfair and deceptive acts” clause.
In an effort to justify tracking cookies even after logging out Facebook released this statement:
Regardless of whether you are logged in or not, we do not use the information we receive when you visit a site with the like button or another social plug-in to create a profile of your browsing behavior on third-party sites or to show you ads, although we may use anonymous or aggregate data to improve ads generally. We delete or anonymize the information we receive within 90 days, and we don’t sell it to advertisers or share it without your permission.
Whether the FTC will actually open an investigation is anyone’s guess at this point. However, with stalking and cyber-bullying at the forefront of concerns regarding Facebook, this is just another issue that needs to be addressed.
